Sakai QA Process Overview

Overview

As we work to release new versions of Sakai or new tools within the Sakai project, each tool/version must be tested in our environment to verify functionality and appropriate behavior for each role associated with a course or project site.  The QA process provides the guidelines and documentation for testing tools consistently with each release.

Basic Outline -  Testing a new Version of Sakai or a New Tool

A new version not only brings new features and new tools to Sakai, but it also brings the possibility of new roles and permissions.  We need to revisit existing sites as well as new sites to verify that tool functionality and permissions function as expected.

Scripts for testing tools can be found at Test Conditions and Scripts.

You will need to log in and test for both NEW and EXISTING sites...

New Sites -
  1. Log in as admin and create a new course site, test all tools (or the new tool) using each role.
  2. Still logged in as admin, create a new project site, test all tools (or the new tool) using each role.
Existing Sites -
  1. For existing sites, log in as each role and test tools.  To test new tools, you will need to Edit Site Info (as instructor or maintainer) to add the new tool to the site first.
