as a side note:
I think it reasonable for most 2.x deployments to consider upgrading to 3.x now. 
Apart from PT- becoming ST- we have had no problems at all by upgrading. (ps: 
PGT became TGT, but that didn't create any problems)

There are a few things that are really better in CAS3 so the upgrade is worth it 
(approvedServices, no javascript redirect, spring based, templates, i18n, ...). 
And you can keep using your old authHandlers so that shouldn't stop you.


ps: when we started using CAS we were a bit confused with the versioning :s...
