Returning different netids for different services

I am looking at deploying a couple of different services where I might
want to return a different netid to different services. 

Essentially, our user ids are nine digit alphanumeric ids, some services
might want ids that are in a different format (like last name, first
initial).  

My thought was that I could customize the ticket validator so that if it
was a certain service it could return a different ID.  

Does this sound feasible?  Which applet would I change?  Would I run
into problems?
