Username/password authentication

OK, but there is still the question as to why the jar has that funky
extra space in the first place. It isn't a zero byte file by any chance?
 
On my build it is a 12Kb binary.

The file name should not matter, as every file with the .jar extension
in that directory should be in CLASSPATH.
