Capturing authenticated CAS users in Tomcat logs via AccessLogValve

I am performing trending analysis on logs generated by Apache HTTP and
Tomcat.  However, I noticed that users' netid don't appear within the
logs generated via Tomcat's AccessLogValve.  This makes sense as the CAS
client is handling authentication and not the servlet container, so I
theorize username will only show up in the logs if the servlet container
has a principle associated with them, correct?
