Using SAML supported app

Hello

  I'm wondering if any SAML supported app could be used with CAS?

  One of our web applications (a CMS in php) is outsourced. The developers
claim that their application would support SAML. Is it enough for me to make
sure it works with CAS?

  I saw some libraries (calles phpCAS or php client) mentioned in the wiki,
and also something about SAML(with very limited information).

  In definition, or theory, I read about SAML that it is enough for
implemening SSO. Is it so in practice? Atleast with CAS?

  And in general is "SAML support" a enough for an application to
work/intergate with CAS?

  If so are there any limits on using SAML instead of CAS clients?

  I'm not sure, if I understood them well.
