I didn't use cas_pam, since I use qmail-ldap and my user base in
entirely in ldap: no system users.
I think you could look at this
http://wiki.dovecot.org/PasswordDatabase/CheckPassword
which describes an interface similar to that of qmail-ldap....
I successfully integrated cas with some webmail and described my setup

Maybe these could help you, or put you in the right direction for the
postfix/dovecot combination.
