Yes, unfortunately the Maven2 assembly plugin likes to corrupt the images
before it ZIPs them.  Unfortunately, I haven't quite figured out why yet.
There was a version that didn't do it but it doesn't include the assembly
features we need.

Hmm, it shouldn't be doing that.  Can you file a JIRA issue for that? :-)
