Glen,
CAS is a free and open-source project sponsored by a non-profit organization
called JASIG. Its used to authenticate users to a system (generally by
username/password) and provides other capabilities. JASIG offers this
software for free for other organizations/companies/individuals/etc to
configure and deploy on their own servers. The organization that deploys
CAS on their servers is responsible for supporting their local instance.
In your particular instance, Active.com (who I've actually used to register
for races ;-)) has downloaded and deployed their own local CAS instance to
authenticate its users. They are apparently experiencing issues with their
deployment (most likely the system that stores their user information).
Anyone is free to download and deploy CAS as they see fit, and we lack
control and access to any of these instances. My recommendation is to
contact Active.com and explain to them that some of your users are
experiencing problems authenticating. If you have any specific dates/times
you can give them, that may help them debug. They should have logs
detailing any errors they encounter.
Active.com maintains a support web site here:
http://www.active.com/Support/Contact_Active_Support/
If you have a contact at Active.com you may wish to email them also. I hope
this helps. I would recommend you unsubscribe from this list otherwise you
will receive a large amount of email from deployers asking for help with
CAS. If you have any further questions, you can email me directly.
However, I cannot provide any support as I have no affiliation with
Active.com or any of its affiliates.
Thanks
-Scott
