Banner Self Service w/CAS 3.3.1

I have been digging around looking for some information about hooking up CAS & Banner Self-Service. We have started to follow this approach http://www.ja-sig.org/wiki/display/UPC/CASifying+Banner+Self+Serve but it doesn't seem to be working in our test instance of Banner. I have CAS 3.3.1 instance setup authenticating against active directory; which works with our test web applications. When we go to a banner deep link; in theory we should be re-directed to CAS but it just displays the Self Service login page. What is the piece we are missing? Do I need to write a servlet that will talk to banner to do the authentication or is there something wrong with the setup of our scripts on the banner side? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
